My New Staple Sheet Mask

Sheet masks, if you haven’t tried one then your still stuck in 2016. I feel like this mask  type has blown up this year, and trust me, I’ve tried A LOT of them, and I now have a new favourite.

Now, there are a few things I look for in a sheet mask. Firstly, it needs to be comfortable. I can’t be dealing with having to re-stick it on lie a certain way so it stays on. Secondly, I need to feel the benefit. I have tried so many where it does nothing other than make my face feel soft, and I might as well have just tried a moisturiser. This is why, I love the origins sheet masks. It does what it say (round of applause).

I picked up the rose sheet mask, and the lavender. I have only tried the lavender one so far, so i’ll report back on the rose one. The lavender one claims to soothe skin, and boy does it do that. Before I used it, my face was a red angry mess, and needed some TLC. Granted, the mask is quite a wet one (LOL) so not overall something I love.

After applying the mask for 10 minutes, my face was visibly calmer and the following day my spots a lot smaller, and don’t seem like they will be scarring.

The Origins sheet masks come in multiple forms, mostly flowers as they are called ”Flower Fusion”. This means there is something for every skincare concern which is great!

Lavender – Soothing

Orange – Radiance Boosting

Rose – Hydrating

Jasmine – Softening

Raspberry – Refreshing

Violet – Nourishing

Have you tried the origins sheet masks?

You can find them at MECCA here in Australia for $10 each.

Tips for Clearing and Preventing Breakouts

Breakouts, the word of most girls nightmares.

For me, these are a monthly occurrence. You know what I mean by monthly. I get them around my chin and jaw line, and they are always super painful and red. Heres me talking like they are actual living beings. Well they might as well be…you hear that spots? BUGGER OFF.

I’m not going to lie, sometimes they need a little help to be pushed out the door. So, heres my tips and tricks. Firstly, lets talk about PREVENTION. These are really simple things you can do, and they make such a difference.

  1. Keep on top of changing your bedding/pillow cases.

Yeah it doesn’t sound like much, but trust me it makes all the difference. All that bacteria that gathers in the night then sits on your pillow all day, and then you go rub your face into it again. GROSS. Even if you religiously flip your pillows as well as wash them, it will change your life. Or your face, who knows.

     2. Fresh face cloths are a must.

This is similar to the pillow thing, but using fresh facecloths will prevent the spread of bacteria. I have like 6 on rotation that go through the wash, making sure I always have at least two ready to be used. You don’t need a new one everyday, more like every other. Also try giving it a quick clean under the tap between uses.

     3. Remove that cleanser.

I mentioned this is my recent skincare routine video (you can watch it here). If you don’t remove ALL of your cleanser, it can lead to clogged pores and spots. So, scrub a dub dub.

So, theres a few handy, and lets be honest pretty easy ways to prevent breakouts. Another one to mention is around the time you know your going to break out, ditch the chocolate and go face-mask crazy, it works a treat for me. So, moving on to clearing. A little disclaimer here, this is what works for me. I am no skin expert or dermatologist, just voicing my recommendations. So here goes,

  1. Keep on top of your skincare routine.

Whether your routine is 2 steps or 9, just keep on top of it. This ensures that your skin is kept clean and hydrated, and allows your spots to heal.

I’m a face toucher. Its something I really wish I could stop doing, and trust me its hard. But, and I promise you this, if you leave well alone, they will be gone so much quicker. Neglet does not make the heart grow fonder in this case, it makes them run away with their tails between their legs (or something like that). As hideous as they may look, and as much as you want to pop them, DONT. You will thank me for it.

    3. New products are a no-no.

I always try and stay clear of products I have never used before. Surely because, I don’t know how my skin is going to react to them. Again, simple but effective.

So, theres my tips. I just thought I would quickly mention some of my absolute staple products, two of which I swear my for crushing those unwanted craters. The first is a toner. I don’t use it everyday as it is quite strong, and its the Alpha H Liquid Gold. Granted, it does slightly sting when applied over spots, but it is really effective a reducing redness and making your face feel fresh.

Secondly is the Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate. I love its night-time partner too, but I have already raved about it before. This is amazing under make-up, on its own and just in general. I love it ok? For me this really reduces any scarring from spots, making them disappear quicker, as well as giving a beautiful glow to the skin.

I’m going to stop rambling on about spots now, and I will see you in my next post.

March Favourites

Is it the end of March already?! I know its just a cliche thing to say but I honestly can’t believe how fast this year is going.

For todays blog post I thought I would share with you my monthly favourites, covering beauty, food and random ones! So lets jump straight into it…

I’m going to start off with a bit of a tech fave. My MacBook AirI got this for my birthday, and I have never owned an apple laptop before, but i’m in love with it. I also got a marble hard case for it which looks gorgeous, and as I am a little obsessed with marble it makes me love it even more.

For the whole of March I have been living in my Topshop High Waisted Joni JeansThese are such a staple for me, and so comfy! I pretty much only wear high waisted jeans, and I think I may have to buy another pair purely because I wear these ones so much. While on the topic of clothing, I have also been obsessed with my Missguided Camel Biker Coat. I have wanted a camel coat for a few years now, and finally went and purchased one. This one is a thick material and so well made for the price. What I love is that its not too warm to wear in summer evenings, but warm enough to wear in winter. Being a biker style is right up my street, as I love the whole look of it. On a side note, the length is perfect as-well, and very flattering.

Moving on to haircare, this month in general, I have been loving Bumble and Bumble products. I was given a Boots gift voucher for my birthday, and went into Boots to have a little nosey. I was intending to buy one of the BB Blow Dry Cremes, as I had seen them in a video from Hey Claire. I was helped by a lovely lady who recommended one for my particular hair, and then gave me loads of really good sized samples. I left Boots with the samples and have been hooked on them ever since, and will 100% be purchasing the full sizes when I run out.  In particular I have been loving the BB Repair Blow Dry for when I am using a hair dryer and styling my hair and the BB Don’t Blow  It for when I’m letting my hair dry naturally. The invisible oil range Shampoo and Conditioner along with the Invisible Oil itself.

My favourites in makeup for this month are the Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter. I wasn’t sure this would look that great without a tan, but even on pale skin it looks gorgeous. I have also been loving it as an inner corner highlight, and sometimes even as an eyeshadow. Secondly, I have been loving my MAC Palette again. I don’t have that many shades, and since I purchased my new Stila one, haven’t been using it that much until the last few weeks when I have been using it everyday. In particular I love the shades Antiqued, Cranberry and Texture.

For random favourites, I have to mention the BBC 3 programme Thirteen. It finished on Sunday, and I am so sad about it. There are only 5 episodes but it is a must watch! Being Easter, I obviously couldn’t not give a chocolate favourite, and it has to be Mini Eggs. I love them. I always say ”I’ll just have a 2 or 3”, and then its 3 bags later and i’m heading to the shop for more (eek). I also baked some blondies for easter and oh boy were they good (let me know if you would like a recipe).

What were your favourites this month?

My Go-To Drugstore Brands, and What I Go To Them For

Hi again!

After the excitement of my birthday, I am currently sat drinking a cup of tea finally relaxing and getting to do a bit of writing. I was wondering on what to post, and upon going to Boots this morning, I had the idea to write a drugstore dedicated post, on my favourite brands and which items in particular I tend to go to those brands for. So, lets jump straight into it….
